    autumn in the garden

    After the drought this summer, I honestly thought that most of our flowers were done for this year. After a few rain showers and some cooler weather, some of the flowers in the garden have re-bloomed. I was so excited to walk around the garden and see some of the bellflowers and lavender blooming again (and the mums are amazing this year!). {photos taken with a Canon Rebel XSi camera with a Sigma 50mm 1:2.8 macro lens}

    the sky at 27,000

    Seeing the clouds from above is one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever seen. It never ceases to amaze me how the clouds look…sometimes barely there, other times huge & poofy, and sometimes tall & dark. The clouds on our trip to and from Charleston were no exception. We came and left in the middle of thunderstorms, so the cells were huge around us. Some of the cells were farther away, which was fine by me!

    charleston, sc {in 24 hours}

    For those of you who don’t know, my hubby’s a pilot. Flying is in his blood and he’s been flying since he was 12 (gliders, private pilot at 18). This makes for an interesting life sometimes, one I get to join in on a few times a year when childcare & schedules work out. Last week we got to take a quick 24 hour rendezvous to Charleston, SC and we made the most of our time in the city I’ve never visited.
