    twenty thirteen

    For me, it’s easy to get to the end of the year and just be tired. Tired from the busiest season of the year. Tired from the activities of the holidays. Tired from so many things. I have neglected my scrapbook all year and just this week ordered over 400 pictures to catch up. In doing so, it reminded me of all of the amazing things that have come our way this year. Traveling (although not as much as we’d like), moving, enjoying the outdoors, laughing with friends & family. Life is so full, but in such a good way. Here’s my recap of 2013. In the craziness of the…

    promises {with guest Amber}

    I’m Amber Pierre, mother of 3 under the age of three and married to Stev. I love to sew, but I’m not that great at it, and I love to cook, and no one has had food poisoning yet, which is totally how I determine that I’m a fantastic cook. I am home with my kids, and work part-time as a translator from home. People sometimes ask me for things, or to do things, that I really don’t want to give or do. So sometimes, if I feel like I can’t or shouldn’t say no, I just try the next best thing to no – putting it off.  I say…

    treasure hunt

    This weekend we had some friends over for a camp out at our house and Dave had the idea to make a treasure hunt for the kids. There are 5 kids under the age of 7 so we knew they’d be all over it (and let’s be honest, the two of us had a blast planning it). We made out clues, each leading to another until the final clue led to the treasure map. Dave wanted it to be a bit of a learning experience for the older kids, so he was sure to teach them about paces and direction. {disclaimer: I’m not a professional photographer…these were taken with my…

    tired & frustrated

    Anybody else feel like when you look up the word “motherhood” in the dictionary… that the word “exhaustion” should be RIGHT next to it? This was the opening line to a recent blog post from my friend Karen. It’s so true though, isn’t it? I know that more often that not I’m tired (and sometimes allow the frustration to sink in as well). There are so many times that I sit down and five minutes later get stir crazy, knowing there is 100 things to be done around the house or with the business. I am so grateful that our pastor recognized that every woman is tired & frustrated in…

    there goes my heart…

    Today is the day! The day that both of my children are in all-day school, 5 days a week. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t excited for this day…not wanting them to grow up too soon but excited for what the school year brings. New friendships. Learning. Focused time for me. Date days with the hubs. Finally being able to help in the classrooms without finding childcare. So many good things come with today (minus the hiccup with the bus not showing up). They’ve been prayed for and talked to about bullying and friendships and sharing the light of Jesus to their classmates. Today my heart goes to…
