    biz tips: planning

    Last month I shared how to get out of a creative funk. This month I wanted to share how I plan my days because it was requested that I share what I do. What I do obviously won’t work for everyone, but it’s something that works really well for me. I’m the type of person that if it’s not written down, it doesn’t get done. I can go to the store for a dozen eggs but if it’s not on my shopping list, I’ll get everything (that I don’t need) and forget the eggs. I’m a mess that way. So much so that when my mom asks me to do…

    overwhelm

    Hey y’all. So it’s been an interesting week for me. The kids are on spring break and while they’re super excited about it, the reality is that I still had to work. Thankfully my kids are old enough to play together (somewhat nicely, while sometimes too loudly) but the mom guilt is still there that I have to work instead of playing games or doing something crafty with them. april goals

    Here we are again – a new month which means new goals. I half considered not posting about goals this month, because it just quite didn’t go as planned in my mind. But, that wouldn’t be very authentic, would it? So here they are! March Goals: 1. create a “for a cause” item – I created a bracelet for the Pick’d market, in which a portion of the proceeds went to the Acts 28 church planting ministry. I only sold a few, so I have a bunch of bracelets left over which will be in the shop in the next few weeks. Sales from this bracelet will continue to help raise…

    ampersand necklace {new in shop}

    I don’t think I’ve been as excited for a new item as I am right now. I’ve been wanting to do an ampersand necklace for a long time now. I knew that I wanted it to be different from what I saw in other shops so I decided that I wanted to be able to stamp on the ampersand. Because of my letter set sizes, it needed to be a little thicker so I decided to make it out of clay and came up with a good prototype. Luckily when the teeny font arrived for the stamped bands I realized that I had a great solution! I decided to use…

    a peek at the process

    Last week one of my customers turned friends, Lindy, came over to do a photoshoot of me in my studio working and she also interviewed me for her blog (she’s so sweet, be sure to check it out). I love all of the things she captured because I don’t have any pictures like this of myself doing what I do almost every day. I thought I’d give you guys a little behind the scenes look at what my work day looks like: from stamping & cutting bands, to soldering and shipping. Now that you’ve experienced a day in the life, go over to Photos by Lou and enter to win…
