Watching the birds chase a poor chipmunk. Exploring. Rocking. Being outside.

Reading and playing. Enjoying the back porch because winter will come too quickly. Forgive me if I’m slacking on new products for the next few months while we enjoy summer and our new community.

My little red-necked hummer. He hasn’t invited his friends to join in the sweet treat, but we hope he will soon. I know that this life is not for everyone, or even most people. But it is for us, and we think it’s good. Very, very good. xo

It’s almost time for Google Reader to say bye-bye. Google Reader is how I used to read my blogs until they made their announcement to shut down. I tried a few different readers on my phone and ended up choosing Bloglovin’. So far I love it! It is easy to read my favorite blogs on my phone (or computer) and I can “heart” articles that I want to revisit later. Be sure to change over your Google Reader blogs to another reader before July 1st! If you want to try Bloglovin’, here’s a great post on how to easily (two clicks) transfer your favorite blogs over. Jennine transferred over about 500 blogs in a very short time.

Already on Bloglovin’? You can follow my blog easily by clicking here!

I am so honored to be part of American Crafts Glitter Campaign this month. They sent me a slew of their new glitter products (mine was a patriotic theme) and we were given free reign to create whatever we wanted to share with our readers! I decided to do a few very easy crafts with my glitter goods – so that just about anyone can make their own too! The pictures practically speak for themselves, but I’ll give a little tutorial on each craft so you can see how easy they are and how great these glitter products are!

The {garland} is very easy if you can sew a semi-straight line on a sewing machine. You punch out different shapes of the glitter cardstock and simply put two glitter pieces back to back and sew! When you get to the end of one shape you add another until you either run out or make the garland as long as you want!

To create the {bucket} I originally started with horizontal lines, but realized that due to the varying width of the bucket there was no good way to get the lines straight. So I improvised and am even happier with how it turned out. Simply measure the height of your bucket and cut the glitter tape to size. Peel off the backing and stick it on the bucket. Add a few paper stars from AC’s line and you’re all set!

To make the {flag skewers} you only need some wooden skewers, glitter tape and scissors. Cut the tape to the size you want x2 (mine were about 4″). Peel off the tape backing and put the skewer in the middle, however far down you want the flag. Press the ends together and then squeeze the rest of the tape to itself.

Lastly, with sharp scissors cut a cute little {flag shape} at the end by cutting out a triangle. Easy peasy lemon squeezie! On the ends of the skewers I placed some hand dipped chocolate & sprinkle mallows. The kids were super excited about this part of the project.

I can hardly contain myself with how cute she is and how old she’s getting. She said that helping with this photoshoot was the best because she got to eat the marshmallows. A sweet-tooth girl after my own heart. Hands-down my favorite product that I used from this American Crafts set so far is the glitter tape…it’s so versatile and can be used for so many different things…I’m already dreaming of making some easy greeting cards with it!

You can {find out more} about American Craft’s products by visiting their website and follow along with them on Pinterest, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram!

Dear weekend, we meet again. I’ll admit, summer break and a hubby who is always on call makes it hard for me to remember when you’re coming but we still enjoy you.

Dear back porch, thank you for allowing me to create a morning routine of coffee and Bible reading. Sitting there sipping some Joe while doing my devotion on the YouVersion app has been a pure joy. Not just on the weekend but every day.

Dear WRCC, thank you for being such a wonderful church. The drive has changed from 5 minutes to 25, but we can’t think of another church that we’d rather be attending. 11 years and counting!

Dear critters in our backyard, you’re kinda creeping me out. From biting ants (no more flip flops while roaming the woods) to one tiny tick (um, gross) to vultures (now gone) scoping out something that had died – I don’t love you. But it’s a good thing that I love this house more and believe it’s the one God had planned for us, because you critters have made me wonder.

Dear birds, it’s so sweet to hear you talk to each other when we’re on the porch. And also to see you eating from our bird feeders…you’ve been a joy for all of us to watch.

Dear kids, thank you for being so willing to explore this new place we call ours. It’s interesting being 20+ minutes away from our friends at the start of summer, but thank you for being willing and flexible in what we do each day. You’ve only complained a few times about being bored.

Dear hubby, I’m so grateful that we got to celebrate you for a bit yesterday when you got off work. You are an amazing husband and dad and I’m so grateful for you. Thank you for being hardworking, loving me more than I deserve at times, adventurous, tickle-monster to the kids. We love you so.

Dear new ATV, hubby’s waited a long time for you. I can tell you’re going to be enjoyed a lot this summer by all of us and our friends. Thank you for being awesome.

Dear week coming up, I’m excited that the kids get to go to VBS, even though my shy boy is not quite sure. It will be a nice little change from the last few weeks and hopefully the kids will meet some fast friends.

Dear weekend, until we meet again. It’s been real.

Happy Friday everyone! Every once in a while I like to do a peek at my week for my non-instagram friends so here you go! Just a few highlights from our week around here.

This past week while we were waiting for hubby to finish up a flight lesson we headed to our favorite park. It has huge towers and lots of slides – a kids park paradise. We love it there!

One late night while hubby was working I popped in You’ve Got Mail and decided to get some studio work done too. I used to watch this movie nearly every Saturday night with my best friend Chrissy as we worked on her wedding prep. Those were the good old days. I loved watching it and posting quotes back and forth with Chrissy on Instagram that night. “I would send you a bouquet of freshly sharpened pencils, if I knew your name and address…”

My brother in law Scott is in the army and headed to Afghanistan this week. We went down to Ft. Knox to see him off. I don’t recall ever being on base before so it was a new experience for me. Please pray for he and his family for the next 9 months (as well as the rest of the troops)

My neice Megan and I took the kids to the pool – 1, 2, 3 GO! They are like little fishes and were really tired when we got home (holla!)

I’m working on a 4th of July project to be revealed soon…I love glitter!

It’s been a few weeks since I got to sit down with my bestie Leslie for our accountability time. I’ve missed her so. She got to be our first friend to ride hubby’s new ATV and we sipped coffee, checked out my garden and swang on the porch swing for hours. I love her and am so thankful for her.

That’s a peek at my week…what have you all been up to? Have a wonderful weekend!
