On Friday Dave got called out of town for work (he’s a corporate pilot) for about 5 days. It was very last minute and came two weeks before we move. I was stressed and cranky about it so my mom had me come over and we went for a pedi while the kids stayed with Papa. She always knows what I need. That night I felt much better and not as stressed. Thank God for good moms.
One of our favorite summer restaurants is Bub’s Burgers. Mom and I (again while Dave was gone, poor guy) took the kids to get some corn dogs while we ate some sloppy waffle fries (to die for!) and then after we walked down to the fountain in this little courtyard. Mimi let the kids break the rules and put their feet in the water. We didn’t get arrested so I guess all is well that ends well, right?

Little E and I decided to go on a tandem bike ride while daddy was gone and Big E was at school. He’s actually a big help on the tandem bike so we rode around the neighborhoods across the street. We stopped at a playground and he slipped and hit his cheek… thankfully just a bruise but a few days later it was looking pretty rough. Boys.

This was my verse one day when I opened my YouVersion Bible app. I thought it was so appropriate that I had to make a quick graphic for it using BubbleFrame and Phono on my iPhone. So many people resonated with this verse when I posted it. So glad I can share encouragement with others!

I’ve been wanting a new table for a while so why not build one a week before you pack up and move? Only us crazies. Handy Hubby is doing a great job and it’s huge. Can’t wait to have loved ones around it in our new home. Soon, soon.

The real reason why I’ve been away…my brain is consumed with getting it all done. Calling utilities. Crossing our t’s and dotting our i’s. Moving can be so daunting. Such an exciting time because the move was our choice, but still overwhelming. I’ll be glad two weeks from now when it’s done…and I can’t wait for what’s to come with the blog and business.

Summer is going to be great – can’t wait to work on the Cornwell summer list!

Fuzel – I found out about this app at the SNAP conference and I’m hooked. It is the best collage app out there that I’ve seen. You can round the inside corners, while having the outside corners still pointy – which I love! There are different backgrounds, you can add labels and other fun things. I use this almost daily!

GardenMinder – I’m looking forward to using this app a lot this summer. I haven’t done much, but you can plan your garden, set reminders, and learn about specific plants. You can even ask a gardener and they’ll respond within 24 hours. This app makes me excited to move and jump start my first garden this summer.

A Beautiful Mess – I’m sure most of you have heard of this already because it launched this week and BLEW UP. It’s such a fun app and well worth the small cost to download. You can add fun text, doodles & frames around your pictures or pick a neat background like the one above. Super fun and makes your pictures a little bit funky!

My Fitness Pal – I have to admit, I used to use My Fitness Pal daily but have fallen away. This app is amazing. You can put in your exercise activity and it’ll figure the calories for you – then you enter your foods (they have a huge database or use the barcode scanner) and it tracks for you. You WILL lose weight with this app.

The theme was The Apron Movement. During their interview part of the program they described how they came up with that. One of the ladies stated that she felt like the feminist movement really changed the way society looks at women (some good, some bad). There used to be a time where you’d wear an apron so that if company came over (or your husband came home from work) that you’d take off the apron and still look your best. I know not everyone agrees with this (heck, sometimes I’m already in my jammies when my hubby comes home), but they wanted to revisit our thoughts on motherhood, being a wife and being a Proverbs 31 woman. Biblically being a servant, giving to others and what true beauty is.

The ladies were asked various questions like if they still date their husbands after 30 years of marriage and who they most looked up to as a woman in their life. It really made me consider how I’m leading my children and teaching them – especially Big E as a future woman of God. I need to be teaching her how to be a Proverbs 31 woman: being energetic and strong, a hard worker, helping the poor and serving her family. My favorite quote from the luncheon is one that I emailed to myself so I wouldn’t forget it. She talked about how when she told one of her husband’s colleagues that she was a stay at home mom, he said “I’m so sorry.” Her response?

Amen, sister. Amen. Whether you’re a stay at home mom, work at home mom, or a mom who works outside the home the answer is still the same. The “product” that you make at home is one that will change the world. One that will bring others to a loving relationship with Christ. How are you cultivating that? It’s time for me to reevaluate.

It’s hard to believe it’s this time of the year again. Time for field day and parties and appreciation gifts. Teachers do so much for their students. They love on them. Teach them. Inspire them.
